Purpose of Program 

SRTNC (pronounced certain-see) is a 26-member distance learning network that utilizes the latest in fiber optic technology to provide an educational tool for students and community members of Southwest Wisconsin. Its goal is to expand and enhance educational opportunities for all students and citizens within the member school districts.
 
Current members include the school districts of Argyle, Barneveld, Belmont, Black Hawk, Boscobel, Cassville, Cuba City, Darlington, Dodgeville, Highland, Iowa-Grant, Mineral Point, Monticello, North Crawford, Platteville, Prairie du Chien, Richland, River Ridge, Riverdale, Seneca, Shullsburg, Southwestern, and Wauzeka-Steuben.  Also included is Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, Cooperative Educational Service Agency #3, and associate member University of Wisconsin - Platteville.
 
 
Program and Service Activities Provided
 
Development, promotion, and sharing of synchronous distance learning K-12 and post-secondary education courses with all members through a programming committee consisting of guidance counselors, principals, and technology coordinators.
 
Provide technical support for all classroom and fiber-optic network equipment for video, audio, and data transport necessary to conduct interactive television distance learning courses.
 
Provide scheduling of courses, meetings, electronic field trips, and other distance learning activities between all BadgerNet Converged Network members, as well as any IP, ISDN, and other compressed video technologies.
 
Conduct monthly Governing Board meetings to keep members updated on network activities, distance learning topics and ideas, and budgetary items.
 
Aid schools in participating in distance learning activities with classroom design consulting, grant searches, E-Rate and TEACH applications, BadgerNet Converged Network implementation, staff development, and other areas of interest to the school.
 
               
Membership Fee
 
  $ 5,000.00     Network membership.
 
  $    320.00     K-12 course fee per student/semester. 
                        Host site receives 100% of revenue collected.
 
  $ 3,000.00     Annual fee for fiber-optic connection to the
                        BadgerNet Converged Network through TEACH
Wisconsin.
